My parents instilled a love, respect and passion for the outdoors into me from an early age through frequent hunting and fishing trips, but it was during my college career that I decided to take that desire even further. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and a Wilderness First Responder certification from Texas Tech University in 2010, and struck out to northeastern Nevada, hours after walking across the stage. I began work with the United States Forest Service the following Monday, and over the next 18 months, had the privilege to work and learn many different skills and disciplines, foremost of all was land navigation. Working in the high Sierra forests of the Ruby Mountain, Mountain City and Jarbidge Ranger Districts of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest provided an excellent opportunity to develop and sharpen this skillset.
It’s important to know where you are and where you’re going, not only on a map, but for eternity. Accept Jesus as your savior, become a brother, and see how the Lord will open your mind to all kinds of new learning and knowledge.
